Succeed 2020 Grantees Meet to Share Program Practices

June 12, 2012

On June 4 and 5, the Succeed 2020 steering committee and FHI 360 hosted a convening of Regional Education Associations (REAs) at the University of Mary. During the convening, REA and school districts data experts met to begin setting common measures. Each REA will measure impact of the Succeed 2020 project using the same data to drive program improvement and benefit all students in North Dakota.

REA teams also participated in a series of workshops on topics including school partnerships with business, career planning for students, and transition to the Common Core State Standards. Experts including Jon Godfread from the ND Chamber of Commerce, Wayne Kutzer from the Department of Career and Technical Education, and Greg Gallagher and Connie Mittleder from the Department of Public Instruction lent their expertise to these sessions. REAs talked about project activities in these areas and shared information about successful program elements that can be applied to Succeed 2020 projects.

REAs will receive funds from the Succeed 2020 initiative this summer to hire staff and begin training. Four REAs, the Missouri River Education Cooperative (based in Bismarck), Northeast Education Services Cooperative (based in Devils Lake), Roughrider Education Services Program (based in Dickinson), and South East Education Cooperative (based in Fargo) will begin full implementation this fall.
